A New Year and A New Semester

Happy 2020 to everyone! It’s hard to believe that a new year is upon us, but here at Park Cities School of Music, we’re already moving a mile a minute with getting the spring semester underway.

With the passing of each year, it’s common to take time to think about all that we’ve done, but let’s try something different this year. Let’s think about all that we might be able to accomplish in 2020, namely taking music lessons. Moreover, let’s get past the idea that music lessons are only for kids. Everyone can benefit from learning how to play an instrument. One thing Park Cities School of Music prides itself in is working with students of all ages. In fact, look over our website & literature, and you’ll find that we work with everyone from infants to seniors.

But why learn to play an instrument and take music lessons in the new year? Well, for a few reasons:

A Lifelong Skill — Even if you don’t become a concert pianist or touring violinist, you’ll carry these skills with you forever, and that’s pretty cool.

Music is Enjoyable — Sure, there are times when music can be frustrating, especially during practice, but more often than not, playing music is a blast.

Takes the Edge Off — Few things make the trials & tribulations of the day melt away like playing a chord on a guitar or a few notes on a keyboard. You could even roll the windows up in the car & belt out your favorite song out of key!

Brings People Together — Listen to the Billy Joel song, “Piano Man”, and you’ll understand that when you play music, you can reach a person’s soul. At a time when people seem very divided, this might be the most important reason of all to play music.

Seeing what the new year holds also applies to our instructors. Every teacher at Park Cities School of Music understands that no matter how much performance & teaching experience they have under their belt, there’s always room for improvement. This is perhaps what makes us different than other schools. We constantly strive to do better everyday & provide a much more amazing experience for the families we serve. As lifelong educators, this is an ongoing task but one we take seriously.

Here’s to a great 2020, and we hope to see you soon!
